steampunkish by ~spiriferous. Much of Steampunk jewelry and accessories is made by assembling found objects using cold-connections, but this enameled copper locket was entirely handmade from the die-making, enameling, and soldering to the bezel-setting of the various antique parts.

Description

this is one of the things i made for my metals final last semester.
we had to use enameling and stone setting, those were our only requirements.

anyway, this is all copper, i made the hinge and the clasp (that you can't see). the faceplate is enameled with some antique watch parts bezel set and then attached to the piece with microbolts. the letters are these metal scrapbook parts covered with enamel.

EDIT: a little more about the construction. the two halves of the locket were made by die-forming two pieces of copper with a die i made, and then soldering the hinge and clasp to them to create the functioning locket. the enameled piece is just a dapped piece of copper with three holes punched in it that i enameled, set the watch mechanism in and letter circles in, and the bezel set onto the front of the locket. it actually is attached to a chain, which is attached to a button loop that is also enameled and resin epoxied.

EDIT EDIT: holy crap! a DD... thank you so much to everyone for checking it out! i really really appreciate all the feedback :)
